Maharashtra NCP chief Madhukar Pichad today apologised to the people of the state for bearing the brunt of protests by his party workers, after Union Agriculture Minister and party supremo Sharad Pawar was attacked by a youth in Delhi.
Pichad said, in several places, NCP workers resorted to rasta rokos, causing hardships to the citizens.
Attack on Pawar was an insult to Maharashtra and all political leaders from the state in Delhi unitedly condemned it, he said.
"This showed the love and respect for Pawar among the people of the state," he said.
Pichad said Parliament has also condemned the attack, which shows that Pawar was a towering national leader.
He said, most of the protests by NCP workers were against comments of Anna Hazare after the attack.
Pichad appealed to his party to stop agitations and protests.
Breaking into a group of officials and journalists, a youth attacked Pawar on Thursday in Delhi, shouting slogans against corruption and price rise.
