Everybody know that finding an accommodation can be tough in Mumbai if you are an outsider. But on Monday national carrier Air India (AI) bluntly asked four of its senior air-hostesses to move out from the airlines’ hostel in Kalina with a seven day notice. The air-hostesses are now struggling to find a decent house while juggling their duties and have sought temporary refuge with their friends.

Sangeeta Chopra (name changed) a resident of Ludhiana has been house-hunting in Mumbai since April 18. “On April 18 the airline officials from the administration came to the hostel and asked us to vacate the premises by April 25. They said that a new batch of 26 girls has been recruited and they need the rooms,” said Chopra. She added, “Finding a accommodation is a tough chore . They should have given us at least a month’s notice. They have threatened to throw us out.”

The airline is giving them step-motherly treatment. “While the airline is trying to save money by cutting off staff on leave travel, here they have sanctioned Rs8 lakh to provide air-conditioner, maintenance and other services to the new batch,” said Abha Pandya (name changed) another permanent cabin crew from Delhi.
