Making a crucial revelation in its remand application, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) informed a local court on Monday that the computer hard disk pertaining to the electronic documents in the case had gone missing and the agency needed the custody of the three officials for further investigations.

The court extended the custody of three government officials arrested in connection with the missing files pertaining to the Adarsh Housing Society scam till May 18, 2011.

The CBI told the court that nine computers were identified in Mantralaya at the instance of the accused and were used for preparation of various notings/correspondence of Adarsh.

Another computer identified by the clerk in Mantralaya was found to be without hard disc. However, the defence lawyers said that CBI custody was not required to trace the hard disc and sought judicial custody. Meanwhile, all the accused also moved bail application and the CBI is likely to file its reply on May 18.

Waman Raul, Gurudutt Wajpe and Nandkumar Narvekar - all employed with the Maharashtra urban development ministry - were nabbed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on May 5.

The missing disks have led to an alarm considering that the CBI revealed on Saturday that the CRZ clearance of Adarsh being maintained with the ministry of environment and forest in New Delhi was missing.  The missing files pertained to the deletion of the width of the Captain PP Marg in Colaba in Mumbai and the controversy-ridden Adarsh Society’s Coastal Regulation.
