Amboli police on Sunday registered a case in which a 33-year-old businessman was allegedly kidnapped in a car by three men and was made to take out money from his ATM. The accused also made him sign a cheque worth Rs1.25 lakh.

According to Abdus Sheikh, 33, the complainant, who works as a civil contractor, he received a call from his relative Hasibul Sheikh, asking him to meet. Sheikh adds that when he went there, Hasibul and two of his unidentified accomplices forcefully made him sit in a car. The accused asked for a ransom of Rs1.5 lakh. They took him to an ATM, making him withdraw Rs25,000. The accused later took him home, where they took more Rs10,000 cash and also a bearer cheque of Rs1.25 lakh. A police official investigating the case said that it seems to be a matter of personal rivalry.
