The Charkop police have arrested two college students and an auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly sending a parcel containing sex toys and lingerie to a 19-year-old girl. The three were also accused of sending lewd text massages to the girl.
Two of the accused have been identified as Pinak Chavan, 18, and Suraj Sagar, 21. The third one was a Class 11 student of a Goregaon-based college. All the three were residents of Sector 6, Charkop in Kandivli (West). Sagar was an auto-rickshaw driver.
According to the police, the victim and the two students used to study in the same school.
Sagar wanted to woo the victim and he reportedly asked her to go for dinner with him. After she refused, Sagar got angry and made a plan along with the other two to harass her.
“Chavan stole a SIM card of a college girl and started sending lewd massages on the mobile number of the victim’s father. They also made obscene calls to her father. They made fake calls to police control room informing them that some people had entered the girl’s house,” said inspector Pravin Patil of the Charkop police station.
“The three were very sharp. After making calls or sending massages to the girl’s father, they used to take out the SIM card from the handset immediately. They sent a parcel containing sex toys and lingerie to her house. They also ordered expensive food and sent it to her house,” said Patil.
“After continuous harassment, the victim’s father approached the Charkop police with the items which the accused had sent and filed a complaint,” said another officer.
“After the complaint, we started tracing the number from which the calls were made to the victim’s father and found that the SIM was registered on a girl’s name. When we questioned the girl, we found that her mobile was stolen from her college and she had filed a complaint at the Malad police station,” said the officer.
“We then started questioning the girl’s friends and found the third accused, who is a minor. He confessed to the crime and told about Sagar. We arrested the thee on Sunday,” said Patil. Sagar and Chavan have been remanded in police custody and the minor has been sent to Dongri remand home.
