22-year-old govinda dies after a week

Participating in the dahi-handi festival proved fatal for Deepak More. The 21-year-old succumbed to his injuries on Thursday at the Sion Hospital.

More, a third year student of KJ Somaiya College, had hit his head on an iron rod and was admitted to the ICU with severe head injuries.

A resident of Kurla, More had joined his friends for the festivities despite his father’s warnings. While on their way to participate in the festival, More, who was sitting at the top of the truck, banged his head on an iron rod meant to stop heavy vehicles from plying on the flyover at Sion. “He was unconscious from the time of admission,” said a doctor, adding that More had fractured his skull and his brain was severely damaged.

The doctors operated on him to remove a clot. However, his condition did not improve.

Earlier this week, Kishore Kamble, 21, passed away after falling thrice during the celebrations.
