With linens being replaced by nylons, summer shorts giving way to winter stockings and light boyfriend cardigans coming out of the closet, the city’s fashionistas are enjoying the change in their wardrobes.

“Winter wear is all about layering, you can choose to wear light layers depending on your tolerance to the cold and put it on or off as you please. I like to match colours; playing with different lengths of different outfits. My personal style is very grunge with black being the main feature in my wardrobe. I recently bought a black cardigan with white stripes and I am waiting to wear it,” says Marvin D’Souza, personal stylist  at fashion blog MissMalini. He shares this cool look with a wrap that he styled MissMalini in recently.

Worli resident Riddhi Parekh has a collection of light woollen sweaters. She says, “Temperatures are barely dipping and we call that winter in this city! I have a couple of sweaters and I try to stay away from dresses come January.” However, even though one can hardly feel the chill here, the skin sure feels parched, so keep that moisturiser and lip balm handy.

Of course you cannot romance with those lush woollen sweaters and trench coats in the city, but should you choose to visit nearby winter destinations, you can wrap yourself around in gorgeous infinity scarves and stoles. “I do not think Mumbai has a winter, but I sure enjoy the chill in the air. My winter wardrobe has all the essentials like a woollen coat, hat, sweaters, boots because I love travelling,” says media professional Nisha Samson, who works in Fort.

For a cooler experience you can head to neighbouring places like Pune, Gujarat, or Nasik where you really need to layer up. Better yet is Delhi that saw a low of 9°C sometime back or if you can brave it, skip right out to the Himalayas.
