Investigations by the Vasai Government Railway police (GRP) into the murder of a 50-year-old vegetable vendor have hit a roadblock. Even as the relatives of the deceased are awaiting justice, inefficient and inexperienced officers of the department have failed to nab the culprit. Further, the sketch of the accused released by the cops have not helped them gather a clue in the case.

Janya Panga Andhre, a resident of Ghas village in Nallasopara, was in the local train between Nalasopara and Vasai stations in the wee hours of March 22, when she was stabbed thrice. Andher was declared dead before she could be admitted to the hospital. Due to the lack of CCTV footage and unclear image of the suspect, cops tracing the suspect have failed in their attempts.

"While we have released the sketch of the accused, we don't have any clues to lead us. All we have is the picture of the commuter travelling in the adjacent compartment, whom we failed we trace. We are investigating further," said a GRP official.

"Inexperienced officers probing the case and a lack of interest to solve the murder mystery have led the investigations to a dead end. No police official is giving us an adequate response about the case details," said Raju Andhre, the deceased's son.

"Although my family is awaiting justice, I cannot see any positive development in the case," said Andhre.
