Two persons, allegedly drunk, were injured while performing stunts on a running suburban train on Wednesday morning. The incident happened between Ghatkopar and Kanjurmarg. The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Kurla have been admitted them in Rajawadi Hospital in an unconscious state.

According to Shailendra Chavan, assistant police inspector (API) of Kurla GRP, three persons — Raju Khan (22), Amit Siddhu (25) and Rukman Khan (20) — were going from Ghatkopar to Kanjurmarg around 6am when this incident happened.

"Rukman informed us that they were drunk and performing stunts when they fell off the train somewhere between Ghatkopar and Kanjurmarg stations," said Chavan.

When the police were informed by Rukman about the accident, they immediately rushed to the spot and found Raju and Siddhu in an unconscious state. They were then taken to Rajawadi hospital.

Dipesh Tank, who runs an organisation called War Against Railway Rowdies, said that such incidents are quite frequent and there is lack of awareness among people about how fatal these actions can prove. "Every week, we report to the police about 3-4 people performing stunts. Most of them are college students who are let off after a warning," said Tank.

"To stop such incidents, real-time patrolling inside the compartments is needed — not just on the platforms."

Both the injured and Rukman are residents of Kanjurmarg and are employed with a private firm.

The police are waiting for the injured persons to recover before continuing their investigation. Meanwhile, kin of the injured have been informed about the incident by the police.
