Residents of Tilak Nagar Sangharsh Samiti have raised objection against the 4G towers to be erected in the area — on Sahyadri Ground, opposite building numbers 32 and 124. Another two towers are to be erected on an open ground opposite building number 125 and in a garden near Amardeep Apartment.

Residents claimed that they learnt that these plots are intended to be given on lease for 20 years for installing the towers. "No matter what the government says, the fact remains that these towers will emit rays that are dangerous to health. We as concerned citizens have to take stand to ensure that these towers are not erected in the area," said a resident.

Another resident said open spaces, recreation grounds, gardens and playgrounds are meant for citizens. "We will not tolerate this move and let BMC have its way. The residents have decided not to take this issue lightly as it will affect their families," he added.
