Supriya Sule, daughter of Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar, has changed her profession. Sule, 44, who had claimed her profession as agriculturist in her affidavits filed before the Election Commission of India twice in 2009 and 2014 while contesting the Lok Sabha elections, has now changed her profession to political and social worker. The details she has filed for the Lok Sabha bio-profile declares her to be a political and social worker, rather than an agriculturist.

Criticism may have prompted her to change profession
Even though Sule was not available for an explanation, her party colleagues in New Delhi believe that the change must have been necessitated because of the criticism from some quarters which questioned the increase in her declared income from Rs51 crore to Rs113 crore. Questions were being raised as how an agriculturist owning just a 9 acre land could earn Rs12.4 crore a year.

Where does she keep her money?
Sule, who was believed to be one of the leaders who prevailed upon to end the 15-year-old alliance with the Congress, has Rs6 crore in at least 30 banks and non-banking financial institutions. Furthermore, the political and social worker, who might be NCP's nominee to represent them in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi cabinet in case they decide to tie up with the BJP in the post-poll scenario, has bonds and debentures worth Rs28 crore in 114 listed companies. She also has insurance policies worth Rs3 crore and jewellery worth an equal amount. She has invested Rs53 crore in construction companies like VRS developers, Laguna developers and others.

A 9-acre plot worth Rs91 lakh in Baramati
The agriculture land, on the basis of which she had claimed herself to be an agriculturist twice while contesting Lok Sabha polls, is a 9-acre plot in Muje Malegar village in Baramati district which is worth Rs91 lakh.

Owns flats but has no car
She also owns residential flats in Mumbai and Pune. But ironically, with Rs133 crore declared income, neither she nor her spouse owns any vehicle.

Shares in company floated by Pawar
Although she has not disclosed it in her list of assets, Sule and her husband were believed to have owned substantial shares in Tech Park One, the company Pawar and a few of his close friends had floated on November 25, 2003. A year later, Tech Park One had bought about 26,000 sq m from Mukund Bhavan Trust, which actually belonged to the military since 1930.
