The Chief Minister's Office tweeted that Fadnavis took a review of the security situation and directed DGP Praveen Dixit to exercise utmost care and remain on high alert to prevent any untoward situation in the state.
In the wake of the deadly terror strike in Paris, security was on Saturday stepped up across Maharashtra including the country's commercial hub Mumbai. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnvis, who is in London, reviewed the measures over phone and instructed police to "exercise utmost care and high alert."
The Chief Minister's Office tweeted that Fadnavis took a review of the security situation and directed DGP Praveen Dixit to exercise utmost care and remain on high alert to prevent any untoward situation in the state.
Earlier in the day, Dixit told PTI, "All police units have been asked to review and access control measures at places with heavy footfall."
"Owners and managers of such places have also been asked to do rehearsal (mock drills) to avoid any possible untoward incidents," he said.
Meanwhile, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Deven Bharti also said that security has been beefed up in Mumbai in view of the terror attacks in the French capital last night. India's financial capital has earlier witnessed deadly terror attacks that claimed scores of lives.
"Though we always remain alert, in wake of the attacks in Paris, security has been beefed across the city. Officials concerned have been asked to remain more vigilant," he said.
Security at the major railway stations, airports, commercial establishments like shopping malls, theatres has been stepped up, another senior officer of Mumbai Police said. The official apprised that all agencies involved in monitoring of security measures have been asked to share vital inputs more precisely.
