This year, students had to wait a little more for the second merit list for first-year junior college (FYJC) admissions after the state education department postponed the date for putting out the list from Monday, July 16, to Thursday, July 19. The delay was for the sake of minority institutions in the city that were yet to complete their quota admissions and surrender vacant seats to the department for general category students.

Vice-principal of Vile Parle's Sathey College, Madhav Rajwade, said, "As compared to last year's second round cut-off, the percentage for open category Commerce has increased by around 2 per cent, that of Arts decreased by nearly 4% and of Science remained the same."

Hemlata Bagla, principal of KC College, Churchgate, said, "We can't say anything about cutoffs. It goes up and down. Commerce cut-off for our first merit list was 90 per cent, which rose to 91.4 per cent in the second."

M L Dahanukar College's cut-off in the second list for the Commerce stream closed at 89.9 per cent.
