Promising MHADA flats, man dupes 4 of Rs 1.4cr

Kalachowky police have arrested a 48-year-old man for allegedly duping three people of Rs 1.4 crore by promising them MHADA homes. The accused, along with three other wanted accuseds, had taken money from four others, promising them houses in Sewri area.

The accused has been identified as Vikas Bhave (48). According to police, Bhave had promised the complainant, Manisha Dedhiya (40), a flat in Sewri at a cheap rate, and had taken around Rs 21 Lakh from her.

Bhave had told the victim that the Sewree flat is owned by another woman, though she is in need of money, and if the victim paid the needy woman the money, she would transfer the documents of the flat to her name.

Police said that the victim, thinking the deal was genuine, paid the money to the accused, who, however, did not transfer the documents to her name, after which she approached the police and lodged a complaint. "After registering the complaint, three more persons approached us claiming that they had also paid the money to Bhave and three others, who had promised them MHADA flats. We then arrested Bhave," said a police officer.

He added that, "The accused had made forged agreements and had taken money from the accused of different bank accounts."
