Downtown resident Subodh Maskara sheds some light on CinePlay, a hybrid of cinema and theatre

CinePlay is an integration of cinema and theatre to present these in a way that caters to a wide audience. The plays that have been widely acclaimed by the audience are shot in a cinematic way in a span of a few days thus giving it a different feel. It reaches out to a larger audience, which is not a possibility in theatre. So far, we have screened CinePlay in Mumbai and Delhi and are also planning to expand to five more cities within a year. I wish CinePlay becomes a global archive of all the plays, giving people a wide array of options. Also, NCPA is keen to do a series of CinePlay of 12 classic plays. This is a great opportunity as theatre is a dying art and CinePlay can revive them. Technology can be used to benefit theatre as the digital media can be used to its advantage."
