Netizens lose calm over pervert's photos

When women on social media were running a viral campaign #MeToo against the sexual abuse faced by women, a Mumbai-based man allegedly posted pictures and videos of him on Instagram and Facebook while allegedly molesting women by touching their bare backs in public places. The posts of the man have now led to an outrage on the Internet.

Angad Gummaraju, 20, a resident of Manipal in Karnataka and a transgender medical student of Kasturba Medical college was searching for blouse designs when Gummaraju came across the posts of a man touching women inappropriately with the profile named Vinay Nair. Gummaraju reported the matter to the Twitter handle of Mumbai police and also posted it on his Facebook timeline after which the post went viral leading to an outrage on the social media.

"I want this man to be punished in public as his acts are done in public places. Posting pictures while molesting them is considered as an award by this man. The police should take suo motu action against the pervert.", said Gummaraju.

Meanwhile, netizens shared the post of Gummaraju and the articles linked to the post. The matter which also reached the Mumbai police have also launched an initial enquiry into the incident, but a formal complaint was not registered.

Deepak Deoraj, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, said, "We are looking into the matter."

The netizens slammed Mumbai police’s cyber crime branch for not filing a suo motu First Information Report (FIR) despite it being brought to the notice of Mumbai Police. The page on Facebook and Instagram were immediately pulled down.
