On the first ride of the AC local's run from Virar to Churchgate, a lady ticket checker was allegedly mistreated by a commuter while she was on duty. The woman registered a non-cognisable complaint with the Mumbai Central railway police against the commuter.

The incident occurred after the AC local, which had started from Virar at 10:22 am, crossed Vasai station.

The AC local service connecting Virar to Churchgate commenced on Monday. According to the non-cognisable complaint submitted by the lady TC, SS Deshpande, she was checking tickets in the AC local. The train had made its halt at Virar, Vasai stations and had reached Bhayandar station at around 10:40 am.

As soon as it left Bhayandar, she began checking tickets and reached the second coach behind the motorman's cabin. She asked for the ticket from the commuter, who is a teacher by profession. According to sources, he possessed a ticket for the AC local only between Virar and Vasai stations and hence Deshpande asked him to pay a fine for travelling without a ticket beyond Vasai.

The commuter apparently snatched the ticket from the TC's hand and questioned her whether she had the authority to ask for the ticket and whether she herself was carrying one. This is when Deshpande showed her identity proof and here too Jaiswar allegedly tried to snatch away the ID card. This is when Deshpande called the RPF official present in the train, who also asked the commuter to pay the fine.

However, he refused again and was later taken to Mumbai Central railway police station.

WR authorities have posted 12 RPF staff and four TCs inside the AC train. On January 1, till 5 pm, the WR caught 10 commuters for ticketless travel and collected fine of Rs 4,130 from them. On the first day, between Churchgate and Virar, 3,334 passengers travelled in the AC local from whom the authorities earned Rs 1.38 lakh through ticket sales.
