Mumbai’s monsoon misery continues as the megapolis recorded highest rainfall in season on Monday. Several areas were submerged with many trains running late.  (LIVE UPDATES)

In view of the torrential rains, the Maharashtra government announced closure of all schools and colleges in Mumbai. 

Earlier in the day, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that rains will continue to lash Mumbai and neighbouring areas for next few days. Heavy rainfall led to severe waterlogging in many areas affecting normal life in Mumbai.

The Met department has further predicted that ?heavy to very heavy rain? is likely to continue over Konkan and Goa. 

Waterlogging has been reported at several parts in Mumbai, including Palghar, Thane.

The flood-like situation affected the railway services also. ‘Trains are being run at restricted speed at Nala Sopara due to water on railway tracks. There is no waterlogging anywhere else on Western Railway routes. Suburban services are functioning, ‘ tweeted Western Railway.

Meanwhile, a foot over bridge (FOB) at Kurla station is also waterlogged disrupting the city traffic.

Apart from these the disaster management has tweeted about the train timings. 

Harbour Line: Trains are running 10-15 minutes late

Central Line: Trains are running 10-15 minutes late

Western Line: Trains are running 15-20 minutes late

Trains on Central Railway are running on all three lines. However, on main line between Kalwa and Thane it moving slowly as a precautionary measure because of very heavy rains and water above 8 inch. Senior officials are stationed at these stations for quick management on spot, CPRO Central Railway said.

BEST buses services

BEST buses unable to ply in 10 waterlogged areas and 44 routes have been diverted in island city and suburbs. In Thane, BEST buses diverted on four routes on Ghodebunder Road and two at Vandana Cinema and Vrindavan areas, officials said.
