A day after Nair Hospital's Dean Dr Ramesh Bharmal announced that a resident doctor, ward boy and helper had been suspended for negligence in the MRI room mishap that killed Rajesh Maru, the hospital on Monday denied any suspension. The resident doctors from the medicine department and the municipal employees union protested on Monday that the staff should not be suspended until the inquiry in the case is completed.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Health), Sunil Dhamane said, "It is yet not confirmed. At least from my side, I have not signed any suspension letter. While the dean has powers to suspend, I am unaware if he has officially suspended the three."

Relatives of Maru and local BJP MLA Mangal Lodha met the Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta on Monday and demanded compensation for the victim's family and a job for Maru's sister. Nayan Jitiya, Maru's uncle, said, "We demand that Rajesh's sister, Leela should be given a job by BMC as there is no other earning member in the family. BMC officials denied any compensation and job reasoning that it is not in BMC's policy."

Meanwhile, Nair Hospital is transferring all its MRI patients to Sion and KEM hospital till the hospital's MRI machine is repaired and in working condition.
