Mumbai: Man held for looting Tardeo home

The Tardeo police have arrested a 28-year-old man who had burgled the house of a family who had gone for Ganesh immersion on September 19. The accused stole cash, mobile phones and ornaments from the residence.

The arrested person has been identified as Zubair Mohammad Aslam Sheikh, a resident of Naupada area in Bandra. According to the police, complainant Dinesh Nirmal, 33, and his wife Neeta were at the Sai Ganesh Mitra Mandal and took part in the immersion process. Around 2.30am, when the couple returned home they found their ornaments, two mobile phones and cash from the cupboard missing.

“We had received information that Sheikh would be coming to Tardeo. A trap was laid and he was arrested. Sheikh confessed to his crime. Sheikh has been remanded in judicial custody. However, we are on the lookout for his accomplices,” said police official.
