A performing arts event titled Atulya Bharat was staged at the Thakur College of Engineering and Technology auditorium on Sunday evening to celebrate Vikram Samvat 2071 (the Hindu new year). The event was organised by Bhagwat Parivar of Mumbai to showcase the heritage of India.
Performed by Lalita Soni and 40 of her students, the dance drama brilliantly conveyed the theme of the event – Incredible India. The event was inaugurated by Dr Soma Ghosh (to be awarded Padmashree). While philanthropist Suresh Chaturvedi was the guest of honour, minister of state for women and child development Vidya Thakur was the chief guest at the event.
“Seeing the contradiction in the country regarding nationalism, Bhagwat Parivar wants to enable the youth to get over such problems,” said Virendra Yagnik, the man who spearheaded the entire event.
'Incredible India' was mainly organised in an artistic way for the youth so that they can learn about the tradition and rich cultural heritage of the country.
"The youth have to take care of issues like women's empowerment and gender inequality," said the minister.
Choreographer of the dance drama Lalita Soni said: "The dance drama portrayed four aspects of Indian culture – traditional, mythological, patriotic and spiritual." Performers for the event, which left the audience spellbound, had been practising for the last two months, Soni added.
Formed in 1996, Bhagwat Parivar has been involved in social activities in the past.
"The Incredible India event would enable the youth to appreciate how our society has been ahead of its time down the ages, be it in the field of science, arts, philosophy, business or politics," added Yagnik.
