Commuters travelling on the Central Railway were left hassled on Saturday morning as around 23 services were cancelled due to water logging on tracks between Kalyan and Badlapur, resulting in closure of train services between the two stations for almost an hour.

A CR official said: "Several trains were partially cancelled between Kalyan and Badlapur between 10.40 am and 11.30 pm, due water overflowing from Ulhas river. However, services between CSMT-kalyan and Badlapur and Karjat were normal."

Trains were running between 10-15 minutes late on Central Railway, Harbour line and also Trans Harbour line. However, services weren't affected much on the Western Railway (WR). A WR official said: "The delay was only for around 5-10 minutes."

However, though the cancellation of CR was not during morning peak hours, several commuters were hit due to the cancellations. Viraj Mamania, resident of Vithalwadi, said, "Every monsoon commuters who live beyond Kalyan suffer the most and Railways are least bothered. It's unbelievable that a few hours of rainfall completely breaks connection of Karjat with Mumbai via railway."

Meanwhile, three mail trains were cancelled on CR, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, while two others were diverted.
