Just ahead of the civic elections, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) sitting corporator, Sudhir Jadhav, from ward 184 has landed in trouble. A 40-year old woman who lives in the same ward lodged a complaint against him at Dadar police station on February 1 for allegedly outraging her modesty by sending lewd WhatsApp messages. However, the MNS claimed that this complaint was filed to malign the party's image.

In her police complaint, the victim alleged that corporator Sudhir Jadhav had visited the victim's residence in her absence for campaigning on January 28. However, when the victim later came to know about the corporator's visit she personally called up Jadhav and invited him for a cup of tea.

Following this, Jadhav sent her objectionable messages and also insisted to send her photographs on WhatsApp. When the victim requested Jadhav to stop messaging her, he kept calling the victim until late night. She further alleged that he also harassed and threatened her.

"Nothing of this sort has happened. Jadhav had asked for a photograph of the woman as he was not able to recognise her. Its a politically motivated move," said Sandeep Deshpande MNS party spokesperson.

"We are probing the matter and are in the process of verifying the facts," said Shantilal Jadhav Senior Police Inspector of Dadar Police Station.

"Jadhav sent a man to threaten me to not file a police complaint and has also offered Rs 50 lakh to settle the matter," the victim told DNA. Jadhav denied all allegations when contacted.
