Man who used high-speed bike to rob, held by Kherwadi police

Kherwadi police have arrested a man who had created a havoc on the western express highway (WEH) using an advanced and high speed motorcycle to snatch the belongings of women travelling in auto-rickshaws.

Police recovered 27 mobile phones from the person who used to buy the stolen phones from the snatcher.

According to Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Patil of Kherwadi Police Station, there had been rampant instances of women's belongings being snatched at WEH. "We managed to successfully arrest Ashish Mavadia (30), a resident of Malad, for his alleged involvement in the offences. He tried to flee, but we chased and apprehend him," said Patil.

He added, Mavadia told police that he used to sell stolen mobile phones to Mohammad Hussain Salim Shaikh (34) from Pydhonie.

"We have arrested Shaikh and recovered 27 mobile phones. Mavadia has admitted of having been involved six offences of bag lifting registered at Kherwadi police station," Patil said.
