Man holds passengers hostage, accidentally shoots woman

The accused identified as Sumesh Karandikar was travelling in the bus from Borivali to Thane.

A youth held co-commuters of a state transport bus from Borivali to Thane hostage after few passengers argued with him over seat sharing. The accused while threatening held a passenger on gun point when they asked him to get down from the bus.

The accused has been identified as Sumesh Karandikar fired a round in the bus which accidentally hit the woman commuter in the chaos. The accused was shocked and a constable, Ganesh Jadhav who was returning home from duty managed to nab him after hearing the chaos.

The incident took place at Nagla Bunder Road at Ghodbunder. The woman was rushed to Vedant hospital for treatment while the accused was taken under custody. The accused was thrashed by the co-commuters around 10.40pm on Friday night.

Sukhada Narkar, PRO, Thane police confirmed the incident and said, "We have arrested the accused and a case has been registered at Kasarvadawali police station.
