BJP-Shiv Sena-RPI, along with another three parties under the saffron alliance, are ready to fight together for the October 2014 assembly elections. On Monday, all six stake holders of 'Mahayuti' had a meeting together and held a primary discussion over seat-sharing, creating pressure on Sena-BJP raising their demands for more seats.

Sources claimed that the three political allies are demanding more seats, which could leave a bigger hole in the pocket of Sena-BJP. However, on Monday, the leaders of the political parties met to discuss the issue. The seat sharing issue will have to be sorted out before August 15, when the code of conduct may come into force. "All the parties will be given adequate representation and we will ensure that with unity, victory will be ours. The discussion in the meeting was over focusing on one point agenda – victory, as winning the assembly elections is more important than the seat-sharing. All the alliance parties want to come on power,"said Devendra Fadnavis, state BJP president.

Fadnavis said that a committee would be formed for deciding on issues to be included in Mahayuti's manifesto. He also added that leaders who will be leading the party in the election will be decided according to their popularity among people and party cadres.

Subhash Desai said that the seat sharing formula will be decided only by party leadership and the issue will be sorted out in next 8 days. "As of now we have not encountered any problems over the seat-sharing," said Desai.

Sena-BJP, the oldest ally in political history, has been reeling under tremendous pressure from the other three parties, apart from RPI (A). Swabhimani Paksha, Rashtriya Samaj Party, and Shivsangram have together demanded at least 100 seats.

Vinod Tawde, Subhash Desai, Raju Shetty from Swabhimani Paksha, Mahadev Jankar of Rashtriya Samaj Party, and Vinayak Mete of Shivsangram, were part of the Monday meeting, apart from Sumant Gaikwad from RPI (A). Eknath Khadse from BJP and Sanjay Raut were also present.

Jankar (RSP), who contested from Baramati against MP Supriya Sule, said that after a round of seat-sharing talks on Monday, he has demanded 59 of the state's 288 seats, besides a Rajya Sabha seat.

Ramdas Athavale's (RPI) expects at least 30 seats. "That is the least that we expect in the alliance," said Sumant Gaikwad of the RPI.
