The state government on Thursday issued a circular making it mandatory to make purchases only after ascertaining the market rates, in addition to looking for the lowest tender. The circular said that the government has already put the procurement policy for purchasing required material for various departments. It also made it clear that the purchases are made through the revenue division-wise committees established for the same.

The circular has pointed out to all departments that generally the tender is awarded to the bidder with lowest estimate. Through this circular, it has been made clear that if the tender price of the lowest tender is more than the market price, the purchases are to be standardised by the divisional committee.
