Soon after the collapse, locals rushed to the spot and managed to rescue at least eight people before the fire brigade and police could arrive on the spot.

While at least 200 persons of Disaster management, NDRF, police and fire brigade were carrying out rescue operation since morning, the locals voluntarily extended help to manage the crowd, help the injured, clear the roads for ambulances and distribute food.
Soon after the collapse, locals rushed to the spot and managed to rescue at least eight people before the fire brigade and police could arrive on the spot.
"As I heard a loud noise of the building collapse, I immediately rushed and along with others started helping people who were visible and stuck under the debris,"said Dipak Parab, a local.
At least hundreds of locals came together to volunteer and began helping teams by providing them with food and water. "Around 30 friends of mine have come here to help," said Hardik Mehata, a college student.
Meanwhile, Pratiksha Pawar, a resident of Ghatkopar, visited the Rajawadi Hospital as soon as she heard about the incident. While Pawar does not know anyone staying in Sai Siddhi, she visited the hospital to extend a helping hand to the family members of the patients who were brought there.
