The area beneath the flyover in Dadar TT was packed with abandoned vehicles and illegal parking. Dadar TT is one of the busiest junction as long route and suburb buses halt at the junction, apart from its proximity with Dadar railway station. The garden is to come up on the line of Nanalal D Mehta flyover at Matunga that also has a 600-metre-long jogging track.

In around 5,000 sq feet area, the garden department of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will develop multi-purpose zone, fitness zone, kids zone, old folk zone and sports zone. “We have divided the area into five zones, and each zone will have its own speciality,” said a civic official. The multi-purpose zone which will spread in 13,043 sq feet area will have lawn and landscaping. Similarly, jogging track, paved area for yoga, central promenade among others are also a part of the project.

The BMC has decided to beautify around 31,000 sq foot area beneath six flyovers. The beautification work will include vertical gardens, skating and lighting too.

Beginning with six flyovers, the civic body will beautify areas under 23 flyovers across the city. The civic body is to spend around Rs 14 crore on all 23 flyovers.

Space beneath flyovers is often used as a parking space. Also, with the success with Nanalal D Mehta flyover at Matunga which has a garden as well as a 600-metre-long jogging track, the civic body has planned to create more such places.
