In view of possible security threats from large slum-pockets surrounding the Juhu airport, authorities have decided to replace its chain-line boundary with much more reliable 'pres-tress precast' wall, which is know for its strength as the technology helps in overcoming concrete's natural weakness. The project is expected to be completed by the mid-next year.

According to the construction industry experts, the technology provides increased durability and strength to the boundary structure as compared to ordinary ones. It is used mainly in the tall buildings, bridges and even containment vessels of nuclear reactors.

The Juhu airport, which is the oldest civilian airport in the country, has constantly been under the terrorist radar, as per the claims made frequently by central and state intelligence agencies. The agencies claim that some anti-national elements can easily sneak inside the airport and using an aircraft from there and launch an attack at the nearby Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), which is counted among Asia's busiest airports.
