Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, on Tuesday performed the last rights of her father who passed away on December 15, 2016. Amid tight security, the final rites were carried out in Brahmin Seva Samiti in Mulund.

The ritual conducted by two Brahmins, started at  9.30 am and went on till 4 pm. The hall was flooded with policemen from Local Arms, Mumbai, officials from Central Bureau of investigation and officers from Mulund police station, who guarded the media glare using huge blinds.

As directed by the sessions court, Mukerjea  refused to interact with anyone. She was neither accompanied by her lawyer, nor her daughter Vidhie who apparently  was unwell.

Mukerjea was later  taken to Tungavateshwar temple in Mulund, where  the last  ritual of Shudhikaran took place.

According to the prosecution, Indrani Mukerjea along with her ex husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver had allegedly plotted the murder of Indrani’s daughter, Sheena Bora, and destroyed the evidence in the case, by disposing of the body. While Indrani’s current husband Peter Mukerjea had aided and abetted the crime, as he knew every little development about Sheena and thus he too was also made an accused in the case. Later, Shyamwar Rai, the driver decided to prove an approver in the case.
