Indrani Mukerjea, one of the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, told the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Monday that she fears for her life.

She alleged that a bowl of daal (lentil) accompanied by a tablet given by the jail staffers was the reason behind her medical emergency situation.

Indrani said, "On April 6, when I left the court, I just met my lawyers and no one else. I did not carry anti-depressants, which the doctors had predicted after looking at my medical report. Also, I was checked at the door of the jail prison..... I fast on Fridays and April 6 was a Friday. After I reached the prison, I was offered food along with a bowl of daal. At around 5.15 pm, I consumed the dal and it started making me feel dizzy. When I informed about it to the jail staff, I was given a tablet kept in a piece of paper. After consuming that pill, I lost consciousness completely."

Indrani further said that she was informed that she had gained consciousness partially on April 7, but she cannot recollect it. "I remember I regained consciousness only on April 9. "

This statement from Indrani comes two weeks after she was hospitalised in JJ Hospital for an alleged drug overdose.

Mukerjea has been lodged in Mumbai's Byculla jail for killing her daughter, Sheena Bora.
