The Chatuhshrungi police on Wednesday booked alleged money launderer and tax evader, Hasan Ali Khan, for submitting false information to renew his passport on December 24, 2004.
Passport officer Shakuntala Rane lodged a complaint in this regard with the police.

Police inspector SB Navale of Chatuhshrungi police
station said, “He is in a Mumbai jail, as the enforcement
directorate (ED) is investigating his case. We will seek his custody after discussing the matter with ED officials,” Navale said.

Hasan Ali Khan, as the name printed on the passport, submitted false information through his agent in 2004. While submitting his details of address, Hasan Ali submitted his residential address as Panjigutta in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.

The address is in the name of his ex-wife, Mehbooba Begum, but the couple is divorced and Hasan Ali does not live there any more. So, he gave false information to the passport office.

According to the police, Hasan Ali, who currently lives in an upmarket area in Koregaon Park, possesses passports issued in Patna, Chandigarh, Mumbai and two other passport offices in the country. Three of his passports have been cancelled.

“Hasan Ali did not mention possessing other passports while getting his Pune passport renewed,” Navale said.

Based on submission of false information, the Pune PO renewed his passport (A9884318). The police suspect that Hasan Ali, after submitting his forms online from London, asked an agent to do the rest of the formalities.
