The Cyber Crime Police Station (CCPS) of city crime branch has arrested a 27-year-old B.Tech graduate from Haryana in connection with the bogus Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) website case. The arrested person was reportedly earning lakhs by getting advertisements for bogus websites. He has also made as many as 70 websites for various organisations, police claimed.

The arrested person has been identified as Rajesh Tiwatia.

According to the police, MHADA had given advertisements in local newspapers on April 15 about 1063 houses for sale by MHADA for year 2015. Regarding the lottery, advertisement was also given on MHADA's website www.mhada.gov.in. On the said website, information regarding the lottery system, registration, online form filling, payment and results were given.

On April 13 the MHADA officials learnt that some unknown person had prepared a bogus website www.mhadalottery2015.in and candidates are having a feeling that the said website belongs to MHADA. On visiting the bogus website, it contains similar menu that the official website has.

The police are also on the lookout for an associate of Tiwatia, who is believed to be son of a Delhi police' sub-inspector.

"Most viewed websites get advertisements and hence Tiwatia made a bogus website of MHADA as MHADA houses were up for grabs and would be viewed by lakhs of people. Last year too, Tiwatia had prepared bogus website of MHADA," said a police officer.
