While former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan alleged that the government was trying to divert attention from the scams, NCP MLA Dilip Walase-Patil demanded a referendum on the separate Vidarbha issue and leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil challenged chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to bring resolution in favour of a united Maharashtra.

Speaking to media persons after the Assembly was adjourned for the entire day, Chavan alleged that government was trying to divert attention from the alleged scams involving 12 ministers. He said that the Opposition has presented all the evidences against 'tainted' ministers. He added that the government wants to divert attention from these allegations and that is the reason it is flaring up the Vidarbha issue.

Vikhe-Patil said that the Opposition raised the issue only after BJP state unit president Raosahabe Danve announced that decision on creation of a separate Vidarbha would be taken at an appropriate time. Vikhe-Patil added that this statement showed that the government is saying something and has something else in mind, which is nothing but cheating the people.

Pointing out that Shiv Sena, BJP's alliance partner in the government, was against a separate Vidarbha, Walase-Patil said that there is no right for this government to be in office. He added that it should immediately step down and conduct a referendum on a separate Vidarbha.
