Starting Monday, Mumbaikars will be able to take a special 'Vistadome' AC coach to Goa. The new coaches will be part of the Dadar-Madgaon Jan Shatabdi Express, Central Railway (CR) officials said. With large glass windows, passengers will enjoy the scenic view of the famous Konkan route.

According to CR officials, the Railway Board members had given its nod to the coaches, recently. The train will leave Dadar at 5.25am, and reach Madgaon at 4pm. This 40-seater coach was built at a cost of Rs 3.38 crore.
"The Vista Dome will be attached to Jan Shatabdi Express that would run thrice a week till October 31. Later, another timetable will be introduced. The train will run six days a week from November," Sunil Udasi, Chief PRO, Central Railway said.
The fare is expected to be around Rs 2235, which is equivalent to Executive Class in Shatabdi Express, excluding charges for catering, reservation, GST and any other taxes on the base fare. The cost of a ticket on the Jan Shatabdi would be Rs 945. Ordering of food is an optional facility, sources said, adding the passenger has to travel at least 50 kms if ne wants to board the new coaches.
The Vista Dome has been manufactured at Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, and was first launched in April on the Vishakhapatnam-Araku Valley section.
