Get a glimpse of north-east India's colours in city

The third edition of Colours of North East, an event that promotes business and tourism in north-east India, will be held in the city on June 30.

The morning session of the event titled 'Make in North East' will be presented by CII with support from ministry of DIPP, government of India, as a part of the Centre's 'Make in India' initiative. The session is aimed at promoting the region as a viable investment destination and around 200 industrialists of Mumbai have confirmed their participation in it.

The event is being co-organised by ministry of DoNER and presented by socio-cultural trust Trend MMS as a part of the North East Festival initiative at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel. Government representatives from eight north-eastern states will interact with industrialists and corporates. The chief guest for the session would be Dr Jitendra Singh, Union DoNER minister. The industry department of Assam under industry minister Chandramohan Patowary will highlight the state as a destination for non-polluting industries and a detailed mapping of industrial land availability will be done to attract industries there.

Shyamkanu Mahanta, chief organiser of Colours of North East, said efforts are being made to motivate film-makers to explore north-east India as a film shooting destination.

The evening session will be a celebration of the diverse culture of north-east with music, dance, fashion, food and handicrafts on display.
