On the 29th of April, a micro brewery in Lower Parel called The Barking Deer witnessed an event like none other. Going along with the intense fan base that cult TV show 'Game of Thrones' commands, the restaurant and bar presented a night revolving around the show.
The night which was dubbed 'Game of Foams' was announced and was highly anticipated. Fans from all over Mumbai attended, and there were various rounds of quizzes about the characters, story-lines and other material from the show. There were also banners made to showcase the teams as particular houses, much like in the show. There were teams that showed allegiance to either the 'House of the Barking Deer', 'House of the Flying Pig' or the 'House of the Bombay Blonde'.
The competitive spirit of the crowd was overwhelming, each one trying to prove they were the biggest fans.
"I was amazed at the turnout of die-hard Game of Thrones fans. We packed the pub with enthusiastically loud quiz participants screaming out answers. Our only problem was that our questions were a bit too easy for them," said Gregory Kroitzsh, owner of The Barking Deer
All the questions were put up on an LCD screen and the teams had to answer accordingly. There were 3 rounds and the winner of each got a pitcher of the freshly brewed Ale of Heroes, a recently introduced Scottish Beer
On whether this night would lead to other themed nights, Kroitzsh said, "I look forward to doing more events like this one -- either centered around 'Game of Thrones' or a quiz night on different topics. The theme night added a new dimension of fun for The Barking Deer."
