Mumbaikars may no longer have to make several trips to their local ward office for civic-related information, as the civic body plans to provide information such as property details, building permissions, water lines, drainage system, nearby gardens, plots reservations and more on a single platform — a mobile app — in the next two weeks. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has worked on a geographic information system (GIS) portal, using which one can access details on utilities, property tax, roads, trees and development plan reservations of a particular location on their phone.

The GIS portal called 'One MCGM' was inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis but the BMC will take the next 10 to 15 days to upload filtered data from various civic departments before making the app available to citizens.

"We are now gathering filtered data from departments like hydraulic engineering, stormwater drains, sewage department, gardens, assession and collection for property taxes, etc. We are also trying to get data from service providers like BEST, Tata, Reliance and others which will take some time," said a senior civic officer.
