The City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) has received a huge response for 'Manpasand', a ready-possession housing scheme in two nodes, Kharghar and Ulwe. The sale of the applications for around 380 homes, from basic (LIG) to luxurious flats, has already started, and according to Cidco officials, huge number of home buyers are booking houses in the satellite city.

On the occasion of Dusserah and Diwali, Cidco has offered 380 flats in Kharghar and Ulwe. The flats on sale are priced between Rs12 lakh and Rs1.47 crore, and have been made available from the unsold units at four of its mass housing schemes.

A Cidco official informed that the flats, which were constructed under their 'housing for all policy' will be sold through a lottery. "This is a golden opportunity to purchase flats that are cheap and have better amenities, through Cidco schemes," said the official. Given a scenario where demand exceeds supply, these flats will fulfill the dreams of 380 households.

The flats will be available under three different projects of Cidco, namely, Valleyship, Vastuvihar, and Celebration in Khargahr and Unnati in Ulwe. The size of these range from 19.5 sq metre to 95.18 sq metre. Of the 380 flats on offer, 101 are for middle income groups, costing between Rs69 lakh and Rs78 lakh and another 111 flats ranging between Rs1.35 crore and Rs 1.47 crore.

The one-room-kitchen flats are available between Rs12 lakh and Rs15 lakh. As per sources, these flats remained unsold because the people who were allotted these earlier were unable to pay.

According to Cidco officials, applications for the flats will be open till November 30, and buyers can submit their applications between October 18 and December 12.

A real estate expert said, these homes are old stocks and but due its low price and Cidco's name, there is good response. "There has not been much change in the demand as property price has skyrocketed in the city. There is a huge inventory of unsold units in Panvel and Ulwe, but there are no buyers. Developers have been banking on festival season to sell some units,"said the expert.
