Changing your name or surnames at times becomes a real task as it becomes difficult for Thanekars to visit office at Charni Road in Mumbai and get work done.

So, for the convenience of Thane residents and ease their work, Maharashtra Navnirnan Sena workers have organised a camp on March 9 to register or make changes in their names, surnames or caste in the Maharashtra Government Gazette. Sunday also happens to the party's eight anniversary.

Nilesh Chavan, Thane MNS president, said, "By organising the camp, we want to help the residents who have been unable to use the facility. The programme has been organised to reach out and help those who have for some reason not been able to get their names or surnames changed."

He added, "It's compulsory for women, especially the married ones, to change their names and make a note of it in the Maharashtra Government Gazette. But most of them are not able to register as the office is located far away."

Make a note!
The camp will be held from 5pm to 9pm at A104, Nagesh Tower, Aradhna Cinema Chowk, LBS road Thane (W)

For change of name or surname, a nominal fee of Rs120 will be charged and if the citizens want it on immediate or urgent basis Rs620 will be charged
