Bhaiyyaji Joshi gets a third term as RSS general secretary

Ending all speculations, Bhaiyyaji Joshi was re-elected as the Sarkaryvaha (general secretary) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Saturday. Sah-Prachar Pramukh J Nandkumar told reporters in Nagpur that RSS' highest decision-making body, Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, re-elected the 67-year old pracharak for a third successive term till March 2008.

Ending all speculations, Bhaiyyaji Joshi was re-elected as the Sarkaryvaha (general secretary) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Saturday. Sah-Prachar Pramukh J Nandkumar told reporters in Nagpur that RSS' highest decision-making body, Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, re-elected the 67-year old pracharak for a third successive term till March 2008.

There were reports about the possible elevation of RSS' Sah-Sarkaryvaha (additional general secretary) Dattatreya Hosbale as the general secretary.

The RSS conclave also greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts in getting UNESCO to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day. A resolution adopted at the conclave said Yoga should be part of the educational curriculum and urged the state governments to take steps in this direction.

The 3-day conclave will conclude on Sunday.
