Actor Vishal Thakkar booked on charges of raping TV actress arrested

Charkop police arrested actor Vishal Thakkar after an actress filed a complaint against him alleging that she was raped while they were in a live-in relationship. Thakkar was produced before a local court which remanded him to police custody till October 21.

According to the police, Thakkar and the victim were having an affair for the past 18 months and were in a live-in relationship. Thakkar stays with his family in Charkop area of Kandivali. The two had met during a shoot at Madh two years ago.

"The victim in her complaint has alleged that over past few months Thakkar has been assaulting her and also established forcible physical relationship with her. On October Saturday, the victim got a complaint lodged against Thakkar," said an officer from Charkop police station.

An FIR was registered against the actor under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 506 (criminal intimidation), they said. The actor has not yet been arrested. Thakkar has done small roles in movies like Tango Charlie, Chandni Bar and Munnabhai MBBS.
