Refuting the allegation that the loan waiver implementation has been delayed, Minister for Cooperatives Subhash Deshmukh on Tuesday stated that 75 per cent of the eligible farmers would be paid their loan waiver by end of November.

Deshmukh added that banks would be provided with a detailed list of farmers along with their names and amounts of loan waiver by November 25, as announced by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. Deshmukh informed that the banks, in turn, would deposit the amounts in respective farmers' accounts by the end of November.

Deshmukh said that the previous government had taken more than a year to fulfill the promise of loan waiver. He pointed out that that previous government did not have a detailed list of farmers but banks had provided all the information.

Stating that the Fadnavis government was transparent and that is the reason every application for loan waiver is scrutinised, Deshmukh said that the list of eligible farmers would be ready by November 25. He made it clear that farmers whose complete loan would be waived are essentially farmers who have dues of less than Rs 1.50 lakhs.

He informed that there are 1.02 crore farmers who are registered and 80 lakh have applied for loan waiver.
