26/11: Prosecution files draft charges against Abu Jundal

The prosecution on Friday filed draft charges against alleged LeT operative Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal for his alleged role in the 26/11 attacks,  slapping 22 charges on him. Arguments will begin on January 15, 2014.

As per the draft charges, the prosecution has held that the accused, along with deceased terrorist Kasab and other associates, had entered into a criminal conspiracy to wage war against the country.

Jundal was allegedly operating the entire 26/11 by sitting in a control room in Pakistan. The prosecution has also claimed that the accused was the one who had assisted Kasab in killing people in city with lethal weapons. Hence, the prosecution said, it has slapped charges of criminal conspiracy, waging war against the nation, murder, kidnapping for murder, cheating and forgery under the Indian Penal Code.

The prosecution has also slapped Jundal with charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Act, Explosive Substance Act, Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, Railways Act and Customs Act.
