26-year-old rapes minor, held

A 26-year-old youth was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old minor in a car. The accused later locked the victim at his apartment and threatened to kill her parents. According to Shanti Nagar police, the youth identified as Mohammed Shaikh — a resident of Bhiwandi's Khan Compound — allegedly approached the minor and took her to a secluded spot where he raped her. He later took her to his residence and continued raping her.

"We have registered a case under Section 376(rape), 377(unnatural sex) and 342(wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code. We produced the accused before court, which remanded him into police custody for five days," said investigating officer Devyani Gaikwad.
