E-commerce giant Snapdeal has said it will take a call on Bollywood actor Aamir Khan's brand ambassador contract next week, according to a Hindustan Times report.

This comes a day after speculation over the actor's contract with Snapdeal arose. Aamir Khan has been mired with controversy since his comments over intolerance levels in India late last year.

Since, he has been removed as the face of the Incredible India campaign, replaced with Amitabh Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra.

According to sources, Khan's contract expired on January 31 and Snapdeal has not renewed it.

The report quoted the spokesperson at Snapdeal as saying, "wait till next week, and you will hear something".

Three months ago, at an event, Khan had said his wife Kiran Rao felt they should move out of the country as she feared for the safety of their child amid the climate of insecurity. Following the remarks, many citizens vented their frustration on social networking platforms and even deleted Snapdeal's app and downgraded it on Google Play in protest of the company.

Snapdeal had distanced itself from the remark, saying the comments made by the actor were "in his personal capacity" and it was in no way connected with them.
