Salman Khan verdict won't affect business, clarifies Mandhana

Shares of Mandhana Industries plunged 4.24% to close at Rs 264.50 on Wednesday, immediately after the verdict.

Mandhana Industries, which is associated with Salman Khan, on Thursday said the verdict in the 2002 hit-and-run case would not have any impact on its apparel business.

"We believe that the verdict will have no impact on our apparel business since we will continue serving our patrons with the same integrity," Mandhana Industries Managing Director Manish Mandhana said in a statement.

Shares of Mandhana Industries plunged 4.24% to close at Rs 264.50 on Wednesday, immediately after the verdict. The stock fell further by 3.55% to settle at Rs 255.10 on the BSE. Mandhana Industries has been associated with Salman Khan's non-governmental organisation called 'Being Human'.

It has an exclusive licence agreement with 'Being Human' to design, market and distribute 'Being Human' branded clothing products. Bollywood star Salman Khan was convicted of culpable homicide yesterday and sentenced to five years' imprisonment, but escaped being sent to jail after the Bombay High Court granted him interim bail until May 8 to hear his appeal against the conviction.
