Lupin's Vinita Gupta, Nilesh Gupta win EY Entrepreneur Award 2015

F C Kohli, the former vice-chairman of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), widely acknowledged as the doyen of the Indian technology sector, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering contribution towards the Indian software industry and nation building.

Lupin Ltd's CEO Vinita Gupta and managing director Nilesh Gupta, who have brought about a phenomenal transformation at the pharma company with spectacular growth in global and domestic markets while also creating tremendous value for stakeholders in a relatively short span of time, were named the EY Entrepreneur of The Year 2015.

F C Kohli, the former vice-chairman of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), widely acknowledged as the doyen of the Indian technology sector, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering contribution towards the Indian software industry and nation building.

Vinita and Nilesh will now represent India at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award (WEOY) in Monte Carlo from 7-12 June 2016.

The category winners include Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder & CEO, Paytm (start-up), Siddhartha Lal, MD & CEO, Eicher Motors Limited (business transformation), R S Agarwal, executive chairman and R S Goenka, whole-time director, Emami Limited (retail & consumer products), Samir Mehta, chairman, Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited, (lifesciences & healthcare), Ramachandra N. Galla, chairman, Amara Raja Batteries Limited (manufacturing), Krishnakumar Natarajan, CEO and MD, Mindtree Limited (services), Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, CMD of Bandhan Financial Services Limited, (financial services), and Romesh Sobti, MD and CEO, IndusInd Bank Limited (entrepreneurial CEO).

Rajiv Memani, chairman, EY India, says, "Businesses and society the world over are seeing a massive transformation brought about by digital disruption. The winners this year come from traditional to new-age businesses, but what is common to them is their agility to ride the wave of change. They have radically transformed their business models and continue to do so, even as they seek to build greater stakeholder value."

Adi Godrej, jury chairman and chairman, Godrej Group, says, "For the 17th Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, we have selected some extraordinary individuals who have contributed significantly to India's progress. India needs entrepreneurs, people who do new things. Entrepreneurs will create a country, which to my mind will become the world's largest economy by 2050. This is a great move by EY to help people do even better in their respective fields."
