Tricolour trend on Republic Day!

Mumbai is all geared up to celebrate Republic Day, flourishing hues like courageous saffron, silent white, and prosperous green.

On the occasion of Republic Day, let your patriotism soar high with tri-colour food, jewellery, dresses, bags and more. While restaurants and eateries have special tricolour menu on offer, fashion designers too have followed suit. Brands like Hidesign, Oriflame, Lacoste, and online channels like FreeCultur, fashionatclick and Lenskart have launched exclusive lines highlighting the three colours of the national flag.
Fashion designer Archana Kochhar has played around with some solid white khaki kurtas with shades of saffron and white, with green scarves/dupattas. Designer Krishna Mehta has created Indian wears like anarkalis, churidars, Indo-western tunics and parallel pants for women to step out in patriotic pride. Designer Malini Ramani too has a special collection for the day. “To celebrate the spirit of Republic Day, we decided to create a jewellery line that evokes the spontaneity of the occasion. The collection accentuates the spirit of freedom with responsibility and fervour,” says jewellery designer Punita Trrikha. “Uniting various themes that enhances the celebration of the day, the collection will add zing to the vibrancy of today's youth,” she adds.
City spas and parlours are offering special Republic Day designs for tattoos and nail arts. Rewa Escape Spa has a clever combination of french designs and the tri-colour for nail art.
Also, there’s a lot to treat the foodie in you. Lake View Café (Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel) has got an exhaustive buffet to symbolise the diverse cuisine of India with dishes like Tirangi Kofta, Tirangi Burfi, etc. Momo Café (Courtyard by Marriott) has a multi-regional feast with speciality foods from several states across India. Lotus Café (JW Marriott) and Vista (Taj Lands End) have an elaborate buffet brunches with authentic preparations from across India. However, Rainforest Resto-Bar has tri-colour mocktail and pasta on the menu. Says Head Chef Yatin Wadkar, “The tri-coloured pasta combines three different kinds of pastas into one, and has spices that represent flavours of India. Also, the ‘Freedom Forever’ mocktail and tri-coloured mousse are interesting innovations that we’re doing in-house.”
